So far at The Curve, we’ve mostly covered pop, rock and folk music, and our audience was primarily centred around that; but what about other genres? Did we just forget about them or do we not like them? Of course not! We appreciate everyone’s hard work and it’s about time we gave credit to musicians in different fields.

The following list is meant to put you in a different state of mind, perhaps transcendent. If you like a song, be sure to check out the artist and dig deeper into the genre. After all, this list barely scratches the surface of all the amazing tracks you can find out there.

House music

It’s music for every occasion. Extremely versatile and broad, likely to make your feet go left to right. There’s just something magical about it, it’s got a ‘feel good’ factor that you can’t deny. Maybe it won’t always make you hit the dance floor, but with the right headphones or speakers, goosebumps are unavoidable.

Psytrance

Psytrance has those sounds words just aren’t powerful enough to describe. To some it sounds weird, some find it weirdly satisfying, others just co-exist with it. Listen to it and decide for yourself.

Reggae

Vitamin D and Reggae just go too well together. It has to be a sunny day, otherwise you won’t feel it. This world at this time is so busy, so stuffed with information and competition. This music is a perfect reminder that sometimes you need to take a deep breath and let your body and soul relax. Forget about all your concerns and come back to them with a clear head.

Liquid Drum and Bass

It won’t let you stop - forget about procrastination. If you have to do something: chores, walk the dog, whatever it is. Turn on a Liquid DNB mix in the background. It’s not as overwhelming as regular DNB, it’s rather monotonic actually. You won’t lose focus while listening to this music, most likely the opposite, and that’s the brilliance of it.

Jazz

It’s not just dinner music, never put it like that. It’s one hundred percent the most revolutionary genre out of everything on this list. It played a massive role in the civil rights movement, dictated fashion, and formed the ways of our society. Sadly, traditional jazz nowadays is considered in a similar vein to classic music, being that it is only for enthusiasts. But just like any other genre, jazz has adapted and transformed. There are artists who adopt the original techniques in their music, but it has evolved to sound so different from what it was.
